Leadership Rocks
One of the most memorable assignments in Residency One of the DEL program was the 'rocks'. The assignment was to take six rocks and thinks about the primary roles of our life that need to be balanced as we journey through the program. I keep these rocks yet today to remind me of the responsibilities that I have in each of these roles that make up my life.

My Personal Leadership Model - Take One
Year one was centered on learning thyself. Reflecting upon our life's journeys, the twists and turns that lead us to the path of leadership. We dove into the leadership literature learning about the DEL outcomes and their importance to leadership. We developed habits of mind as we transitioned from practitioners to scholar practitioners and became intertwined in the conversation of leadership. We challenged the thoughts and opinions of each other and ourselves. We learned to write as scholars and support our arguments with research and foundational theories. We ended the year with residency two sitting knee to knee giving open and honest feedback to each other on development opportunities, successes, and as cohort members.
Year Two
Concept Map II

Concept Map III

Year two continued the leadership conversation but ventured into the mechanics of research. We studied and practiced quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. We followed Maxwell's research design from concept mapping to research questions to methodologies, applying them in case studies. We took a deep dive into our areas of dissertation interest, gathering over 80 articles and creating an annotated bibliography to aid in our studies. We wrapped up the year exploring trends and issues in the industry as well as intellectually stimulating discussion on decision making and human judgment. At Residency Three we focused on closing out our coursework with the DEL portfolio and began the dissertation process with a prospectus.
